Tesoro Refinery

We regulate water, hazardous waste, and cleanup activities at the Tesoro Refining & Marketing Company in Anacortes.


Facility information

The refinery began operating in 1955. Owned by Marathon and doing business as Tesoro, it processes crude oil into a variety of petroleum products and has about 330 employees and 280 contractors that work on the site.

  • At full production, the refinery has the ability to process 120,000 barrels of crude oil each day.
  • Wastewater from the petroleum-making process is treated and sent to Fidalgo Bay.
